Judging books by their covers

The subtitle of some of my books have recently changed to better reflect the contents. As a result the book covers have been updated. Titles and covers are, essentially, a billboard for the contents. We wanted to make sure they more accurately guide potentially readers to the book.

The new subtitles are:

  • Volume 1: The Practice of System and Network Administration:
    • DevOps and other best practices for enterprise IT
  • Volume 2: The Practice of Cloud System Administration:
    • Devops and SRE Best Practices for Web Services

You can see the new book covers at the top of this web site, as well as on the-sysadmin-book.com and the-cloud-book.com.

Hello Tom,

I recently purchased the third edition of Volume 1 and I was wondering if there will be a new edition of Volume 2 any time soon? Especially with the rapid changes in the cloud environment a book from 2014 might be a bit outdated?

I also purchased and read Time Management for Sys admins. Great book but that one really deserves an update. I am not sure the younger readers know what a Palm PDA is :)

Thanks in advance!

Volume 2 is still pretty new.

Time Management... yes, I do need to update it. Maybe in 2018, to ship in 2019.

Thanks, I will give it a shot when I finish Volume 1. It is quite a big chunk of information to go through :)

The timeframe for Time management sounds good. I am curious to see what changes you will make.
Perhaps a bit bold but I am available if you need some additional proofreaders from the other side of the pond.

Thanks for your work so far.
